Being a competitive tennis professional player all my life , I had been used to being in tough situations. When I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in August, 2006, I was devastated ! I made up my mind that this disease would not beat me. After consultations & advice from specialists in my area, I learned the best medical procedures available to me. Then agonized over which decision I should make.
Soon, my decision became very clear. I wanted the best. I wanted to be out on the courts as soon as possible. I was excited & relieved to hear about
Dr Samadi at the Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. He is a genius at the revolutionary & advanced
da Vinci prostatectomy method, which is less invasive than other treatments and profoundly reduces blood loss, pain, and recovery time with fewer side effects. This was for me ! As Dr Samadi specialises in all 3 prostatectomies, the traditional radical, the laparoscopic & robotic, it is like having 3 doctors in one in the operating room with you.
My surgery took 1 1/2 hours & went very well. I was up walking around after a few hours, spent overnight in the hospital, was back in my hotel room the next day.The catheter was removed without any problems after 7 days. Altogether I spent 10 days in New York My recovery has been amazing and I was back on the court again in five weeks, hitting lightly. I am now looking forward to receiving a zero on my PSA test next week. Dr Samadi is a true life saver and I am convinced that choosing him was the best decision I have ever made. I owe him one!
