Urinary Function
For men facing prostate cancer, the three main concerns are: getting rid of the cancer, keeping their sexual function and keeping their urinary function.
The prostate is surrounded by delicate nerves that support urinary and sexual function. Most patients are candidates for what is known as a nerve-sparing prostatectomy. This means the surgeon removes the cancerous prostate while taking extra steps to save these critical nerves.
When looking at urinary function, studies show most da Vinci® Prostatectomy patients experience a full return of urinary continence within six months.1,2,3 The advanced technology of the da Vinci System allows surgeons to operate with enhanced vision, precision, dexterity and control – taking surgery beyond the limits of the human hand.
Ask your doctor about da Vinci Surgery as well as what you can expect for recovery of urinary function.
